Rodrigo Sanchez Valencia, a third-generation farmer from Finca Monteblanco in Huila, Colombia, preserves the farm's natural diversity and productivity, founded by his grandfather. The high-altitude, micro-climate of Monteblanco supports prized coffee varieties like Caturra, Geisha, Pink Bourbon, and Pacamara. Monteblanco won 1st place at the Yara Coffee Championship 2017 and excelled in the Roasters Union Competition.
In 2016, inspired by winemaking, Rodrigo experimented with cooler fermentation temperatures, using Brix degrees to measure sugar content. He refined his method to perfect the process.
