About Colombia El Carmen DECAF Green Coffee Beans

500g - Unroasted coffee beans suitable for home roasting.

Our best selling single origin and our flagship sustainability project, as decaf green beans! Now renamed to honour the producers we have been supporting. #Colombia not Columbia or Colombian.

This version of our El Carmen coffee has been decaffeinated using locally-grown fermented sugarcane. the "sugarcane process" is a natural and sustainable way to remove caffeine from coffee while preserving the flavour. The success of this product has enabled us to increase the volume of coffee we import from El Carmen, which offers greater sustainability for our relationship with the small holders.

Please note: Never attempt to grind, green unroasted beans.

It was a no brainer for us to grow our business with the producers at El Carmen. In purchasing a coffee for decaffeination from one of our existing suppliers, we can showcase how the sugarcane process impacts flavour while providing a more sustainable supply chain.

Part of the Red Association Pitalito Group. The coffee is grown on about 660 hectares of land represented by 300 families based in Pitalito who were looking to improve their annual income and quality of their coffee. Through work with our partners Raw Materials and Invercafe, who have handled the drying and finance for the farmers, we are working to provide them with a sustainable supply chain and access to the speciality coffee market.
