About Rwanda Kinini Anaerobic Nº 331
This coffee from the Kinini Washing Station is processed using an anaerobic fermentation. This gives the coffee a wild, fruit forward character that is intensely sweet and juicy.
Think blackcurrant cordial with a more complex rich aroma of assam and floral agave. The smallholders that contribute to this lot ensure the ripe cherries are delivered to the station on the day of picking, which gives this coffee an exceptional quality and consistency cup to cup.

Founded the same year, R & B Import Export Ltd was established by Malcolm Clear and Jacqueline Turner, who also run the NGO A New Beginning Rwanda. A portion of every coffee sale supports their infant and primary school and local health post, ensuring long-term community impact.
Kinini works closely with over 633 local farmers—many of them widows of the Rwandan genocide—across Rusiga and Mbogo. All coffee is processed at the state-of-the-art Kinini washing station, combining quality production with meaningful social impact.
Ongoing investment in infrastructure, including nearly half a million seedlings, a cupping lab, and satellite technology, has helped drive quality year after year. Agronomic training and cooperative support further strengthen farmer success.
Kinini’s exceptional terroir has earned multiple Cup of Excellence recognitions. Since 2019, they have expanded into natural processing, on-site roasting, and organic fertiliser production, with plans to welcome visitors in the near future.
Coffee is depulped on a 4-disc McKinnon pulper, fermented in water-filled and dry tanks, then soaked and dried on raised beds, each marked for full micro-lot traceability and protected by yellow tarpaulins.
Kinini continues to push boundaries in quality, sustainability, and community impact—crafting coffees with a powerful and uplifting story.
