About Kenya Mutheru AB Nº 340
Mutheru coffee showcases the vibrant, classic character of Kenya’s highland terroir. The region is home to deep red volcanic soils, cool temperatures, and exceptional SL28 and SL34 varieties.
At the Mutheru washing station, only the ripest cherries are hand-picked and meticulously processed through careful fermentation, density grading, and slow drying on raised beds. The result is a bright, complex, and expressive coffee that reflects both the region’s rich agricultural heritage and the dedication of its farmers.

Murang’a’s high altitudes (1,600–1,800 masl), abundant rainfall, deep red volcanic soils, and cool temperatures create ideal conditions for high-quality Arabica. Paired with exceptional varieties like SL28 and SL34, this environment produces remarkable cup profiles.
Processing at Mutheru is meticulous and traditional. Only ripe cherries are hand-picked in the morning, sorted, and pulped with clean water in gravity-fed systems. The beans ferment overnight to break down mucilage, then are washed and density-graded in long tiled channels. The highest-quality beans are dried on raised beds with constant monitoring until they reach 10–12% moisture, then bagged and sent to the dry mill.
Mutheru coffee showcases classic Kenyan terroir—bright, complex, and characterful—reflecting the dedication of the Kariua Cooperative farmers and the rich agricultural heritage of Murang’a County.
