Deep in the lush highlands of Sidama, Ethiopia, you’ll find Daniso Horsa, a passionate coffee producer whose farms bloom across the breathtaking Damo area of Shantawene, alongside the neighbouring Faficho site in Bombe Kebele. This is Bensa country — where vibrant green hills, red clay paths and the laughter of the Shantawene Kebena people weave together the rhythm of everyday life.

Getting to Damo is an adventure in itself. The road winds through forests where sunlight flickers between the trees, and the air hums with life: children playing ping-pong under acacia shade, the sizzle of goat roasting, and the warm aroma of berbere spices mingling with the scent of freshly turned earth. It’s here, amid this rich culture and natural beauty, that Daniso’s coffee begins its story.

But behind the postcard-perfect views lies dedication and hard work. Every cherry is handpicked at peak ripeness, often in multiple passes through the same trees. It’s slow, careful work — and it shows in the cup.

From Shantawene to Bombe, Daniso’s coffees are known for their intensity, sweetness and exceptional clarity. This coffee uses the 74158 Ethiopian heirloom varietal, developed by the JARC (Jimma Agricultural Research Center) for its high yield and resistance to coffee berry disease. Grown in a high-elevation valley where dense, small-bean varieties thrive, it delivers a flavour profile of complex fruity and floral notes.
