Hario V60 Coffee Dripper

Cold Brew Coffee

So what is cold brew coffee? It's not just cold coffee you know! Cold Brew is the method of brewing coffee without the use of heat and therefore making it a long process but with smoother, rounder results. Often made into a concentrate to be diluted, cold brew is one of the methods that get better with age.

The cold brew process takes anywhere from 8 to 12 hours or until the magic happens! The slow gentle extraction produces a coffee that is rich, full-bodied and with less acidity than traditionally brewed coffee.

Best Coffee for cold brew

We find the best coffee roast for cold brew is medium or medium-dark roast, but it's all down to personal preference. You don't have to worry about acidity in cold brew, a lighter roast will deliver cleaner fruity flavours but the darker roast will have richer chocolate notes.

How to make cold brew coffee

Fill the filter cone with your coarse coffee grounds, fill the coffee pot with cold water and stir the grounds. Now put the pot into the fridge and let it steep for at least 8 - 12 hours. Take out the mesh and remove the used coffee grinds. Serve your cold brew coffee chilled over ice, dilute to taste if necessary.
