When you think of which career might drink the most amount of coffee what do you think of? We asked everyone here at Rave and none of us got it right...
A recent UK survey of 20,000 workers has revealed that when it comes to caffeine consumption, journalists are leading the pack. According to the survey undertaken by Pressat, people working in media and publishing drink an average of 3.62 cups of coffee per day, more than any other profession surveyed.
Coming in just behind were healthcare professionals, including doctors and nurses, at 3.60 cups per day. It’s no surprise that both industries rely on high alertness and long hours; coffee is clearly doing a lot of the heavy lifting.
“The results were not surprising, especially considering the coronavirus outbreak and NHS budget cuts. We fully expected those working on the frontline such as doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff to top the list, but journalists are still the kings and queens of coffee drinkers” - Max Forrest at Pressat.

Spending Tells Another Story
Interestingly, marketing professionals spend the most on coffee per week, averaging £13.27, despite not being the heaviest drinkers. They’re followed by advertising workers (£12.98) and electricians (£12.96). Spot the flat white drinkers with a syrup shot…
Plant-Based Choices Are Rising
Another key trend: plant-based milk alternatives are becoming increasingly popular. Over 20% of workers in some sectors (especially police officers, executives, and plumbers) reported opting for non-dairy milk in their coffee. That figure is steadily climbing from their previous surveys, reflecting wider consumer shifts toward sustainability and dietary preferences.

Unsurprisingly those doing careers that require longer hours and high alert throughout are drinking a lot of coffee and those in marketing jobs are drinking the most expensive coffee but what stands out the most for us here at Rave is the increase in milk alternative drinkers across all professions.
