Coffee farming in the southern Mexican states is under many pressures.
The climate here is cool, and coffee cherries develop slowly and sweetly. However, yields are low and producers can struggle to make ends meet. Our partnership with Raw Material, who assist in the sourcing and exportation of this coffee, has brought this excellent coffee to our attention.
These remote producers now have access to the global speciality market, and are paid up to 10 times what they can earn through local buyers!
The region is vulnerable to outward migration. The next generation of coffee farmers are moving to major cities in Mexico and the US in search of more financial stability, and this creates real uncertainty for the future of coffee farming. Salomon Garcia and the USP association are hoping to incentivise more young people to become involved in the coffee industry.
The group has established a seedling nursery, experimental plots (parcelas), and reforestation projects which are providing more jobs within the coffee community.

Perfect for espresso, super sweet and punches well through milk.
