Miguel González Sánchez bought Finca Santa Clara 37 years ago, pursuing his lifelong goal of having his own coffee.

When Miguel bought the farm, it was mainly abandoned farm. The previous owners lacked the necessary resources to maintain and grow different varietals. Miguel’s main focus has been to create a high quality cup of coffee.

The 2016 harvest challenged farmers across Guatemala with a drought. It was the first year that climate change was discussed across all producers.

The drought impacted Santa Clara and its neighbours. The harvest wasn’t as high as in past years for Finca Santa Clara. Miguel hope that the farm can cope with the weather patterns to increase production and continue growing high quality coffee.
